Synchronous Coding
Processes with identical requirements for encoding and decoding are called synchrone. The best example for a synchronous characteristic gives the communication via telephone especially internet telephony ("voice over IP"). The sum of all delays shall not exceed a very small range to enable a bidirectional communication. The margins for both enccoding and decoding are very restrictive.
