Specification of the ZIP File Format

The Specification of the ZIP file format is available to the public at the internet. It is supported by a large number of commercial applications and freeware projects (see Info-ZIP). As far as we know there is no limitation in using ZIP due to patent restrictions.

The ZIP format is specified in the "Application Notes" of PKWARE, Inc. While creating this article the current version of ZIP is:
