Security Features

To ensure data integrity only the checksum procedure CRC-32 is provided. There is no further algorithm specified to add redundancy intended for increasing error tolerance.

To protect a ZIP file from unauthorized access data could be encrypted. The latest encryption features were added to the specification at version 6.2. Simple encryption methods were already part of former versions, but are not providing a higher security level.
